Most people find a mover by watching a quick clip: the crew wraps a couch, carries out a stack of boxes, loads the truck, done. It never shows the hour of planning that happened before they arrived, or the unload on the other end. If you’re thinking about hiring a crew to pack and move your Hopkinton home, here’s the whole thing, start to finish, so there are no surprises on the day.
People underestimate packing every single time. A kitchen alone can take hours to do right. Glassware, plates, the random stuff in the junk drawer, the things on top of the fridge nobody thinks about until the morning of the move. That’s the work you’re really hiring out.
Our crew brings the boxes and materials and packs room by room. The breakables get the attention: dishes and glassware in proper cartons with dividers, mirrors and framed art boxed and padded, lamps taken apart where they come apart. You can have us do the entire house, or just the kitchen and the fragile things and handle the clothes and books yourself. Both are normal. Tell us which when we talk and the quote reflects it.
If you want to see what’s covered, our packing service page lays it out.
There’s a reason for all the plastic and blankets. A dresser drawer slides open on the truck and now your socks are all over the floor. A moving blanket slips off a table mid-staircase and the corner catches the wall. A bare couch arm drags along a doorframe and picks up a black scuff. Wrap and pads stop all of that before it starts.
Hopkinton has a lot of older houses with original woodwork and skinny staircases, so we cover the house too. Floor runners, pads on the doorframes, something soft around the stair rail. Five minutes up front beats a gouged banister and a repair bill.
A week or two ahead. You lock in the date and we walk the house, in person or on video. This is when the surprises come out: a piano, a safe, a treadmill, a TV bolted to the wall, a basement packed with twice what you’d guess.
A day or two before (on bigger jobs). We’ll come pack the things you won’t need in the last 48 hours, so move day isn’t a scramble. Keep a box of daily stuff aside.
Move-day morning. We finish packing, take apart the beds and tables, and wrap everything. This is the part you saw in the video.
Loading. Everything goes on the truck in the order it comes off, with the weight spread right and tied down so nothing shifts on 495.
At the new place. We carry it in, rebuild the furniture, and put boxes in the rooms they belong to. We’ll ask where things go rather than stacking it all in the hallway.
Hopkinton sits right on 495 and close to the Pike, so a good share of the moves we do here aren’t staying in town. Some go across MetroWest, some into Boston, some out of state entirely. The same crew that packs your house does the long drive, so you’re not handed off to a stranger’s truck partway through.
On a long move that’s worth a lot. One company, one crew, one point of contact from your door to the new one.
The only way to price a move honestly is to see what’s in the house. Send us a video or walk through it with us and we’ll give you a straight estimate, not a guess that balloons on move day.
